Connecticut's technology companies will have a prize all their own come November, when the Connecticut Technology Council launches the Tech Top 40, a ranking of the 40 fastest-growing technology companies in the state.
The contest will be based on percentage of profits growth over four years, as long as a company took in at least $50,000 in profits in year one and at least $3 million by the fourth.
Accounting firm Deloitte used to publish a Fast 50 ranking of Connecticut companies but in the last year combined Connecticut with New York and New Jersey to structure a tri-state ranking.
Mike Scricca, a spokesman for the Connecticut Technology Council, said the Tech Top 40 was formed to showcase Connecticut companies. The new competition is sponsored by a New Haven accounting firm, UHY LLP.
