Types of link bait

Even though there are no clear-cut subdivisions within link bait, many attempt to divide them into types of hooks. This is a short list of some of the most common approaches with brief descriptions:

* Informational hooks - Provide information that a reader may find very useful. Some rare tips and tricks or any personal experience through which readers can advantage.
* News hooks - Provide fresh information and obtain citations and links as the news spreads.
* Humor hooks - Tell a funny story or a joke. A bizarre picture of your subject or mocking cartoons can also prove to be link bait.
* Evil hooks - Saying something unpopular or mean may also yield a lot of attention. Writing about something that is not appealing about a product or a popular blogger. Provide strong reasons for it.
* Tool hooks - Create some sort of tool that is useful enough that people link to it.
* Widgets hooks - A badge or tool that can be placed or embedded on other websites, with a link included.
* Unique content hooks - This hook is intended for people that are in need of unique contents or articles for traffic or Ad Sense revenue. This became popular after Google implemented Duplicate Contents Filter and sites with duplicate contents saw fall in traffic. To use this hook, you have to create unique contents and give it out to Bloggers and webmasters with an obligation to put link back to your site.

Article spinning

Article spinning is a search engine optimization (SEO) technique by which blog or website owner’s effort to manipulate their rank on Google and other search engines. It works by rewriting existing articles, or parts of articles, and replacing elements to avoid being penalized in the Search Engine Results pages (SERP) for using duplicate content. The original articles are often plagiarized from other websites and can often also be copyright infringements if the original article was used without the copyright owner's permission.

Website owners may pay writers to perform revolving manually, rewriting all or parts of articles. Writers also spin their own articles, manually or automatically, allowing them to sell the same articles with slight variations to a number of clients or to use the article for multiple purposes, for example as content and also for article marketing. There are a number of software applications which will automatically replace words or phrases in articles. Automatic rewriting can change the meaning of a sentence through the use of words with similar but subtly different meaning to the original. For example, the word "picture" could be replaced by the word "image" or "photo". Thousands of word-for-word combinations are stored in either a text file or database thesaurus to draw from. This ensures that a large percentage of words are different from the original article.

Contrary to popular opinion, Google does not penalize web sites that have duplicated content on it, but the advances in filtering techniques mean that duplicate content will rarely feature well in SERPS. The duplication of web content may also break copyright law in many countries. See, for example, the United States Online Copyright Infringement Liability Limitation Act (OCILLA) and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Tips for Ranking Your Websites

Each single day millions of individuals log into search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask etc. to get information on their preferred topic. When a user types in precise search terms, search engines display the results in the search engine result pages (SERPS). Thus it is of utmost importance for webmasters to appreciate and apply exact strategies so as to claim higher ranks in searches and attract organic traffic. Getting higher ranks in searches need hard work and toil. Understanding the concepts governing search engines and the way they rank a web site is utterly vital as understanding these principles will gain you an edge and you will start dictating alcoves all over the web pouring numerous visitors to your website on a daily basis. Following are the "must follow" tips for you if you want higher page ranking for your website: -

1. Distinctive page titles: page titles are like "tell-tales". They often speak volumes about what is ought to be found inside the website. It gives the web users a rough idea about what your web pages contain and are decisive factors when it comes to search engine rankings .

2. Evocative Keyword Links: search engines engage spiders which crawl from one page to another; following links from one page to the other, indexing contents as they go. If the links they trail include pertinent keywords and phrases, the search engine heightens it page rankings. Another important point to remember is that keywords should also be included in the site's menu (navigation) as they are highly germane.

3. On-page copy keywords: sprinkling keywords all over the contents of your on-page copy guarantees site's relevance for those specific words that searchers use when they come for products or services.

4. Clean, Accessible website design: always remember to avoid flashy designs as they take time when loading and will surely piss off many users as well as the search engine spiders. Improper HTML codes, 404 errors, chaotic and stuffed designs; contents hiding behind forms are also hindrances which might whisk away search engine's crawlers. Standard compliant website designs should be used and proper caution should be heeded to following W3C's accessibility guidelines while designing websites.

5. Focused Site Topic: focusing on your niche segment is sure to pay off better than involving oneself in multi faceted selection. People like experts on a topic rather than jack of all, master of none.

6. Relevant Incoming Links: the quantity of links from other sites does hold importance but the quality of links is more important. For example links from PR-5 sites will hold greater importance than 100 PR-0 sites. Also getting a relevant link from a site with extension ".org" or ".gov" is sure to prove more valuable than links from other unreliable sites.

7. Insert keywords on images: using keywords as name of your images rather than common "DSC000" will prove worthwhile as images are also indexed faster.

8. Avoid stuffing keywords: as I said earlier sprinkle key words. There is always a difference between sprinkling and stuffing. Does not jam pack your contents with keywords in order to trick search engines.

Keyword Linking for SEO

How it works:

You just link the keywords in your articles to relevant pages in your site. Let's say you are writing about "used SEO" and there is another page in your site that lists used SEO Link. Pick a few keywords in the article you are writing, and make them link to other page (the page with the used car listings). Use complete links (starting from the http)... so if someone copies your article, the link will still work. Finally, watch your page rank increase overtime.

Keywords in Anchor Text:

There are a number of places you should use your keywords on your website to make sure you get the most relevancy from them. The first and most important for internal linking within your own site is the Anchor text of links on your own pages that link to other pages within your site.

A classic mistake is to link back to you home page with the phrase "home" or "home page", this is a waste of Page rank? You should always use your primary keyword phrase in the anchor text. Home You should also use other relevant keywords for each of your pages and use them for your internal navigation links.

This will help to make sure your home page and other pages have relevancy in the Pr that you use within your site.

Why use social bookmarking?

The Social Bookmarking Sites are great for generating targeted traffic to you Hubs, Lenses and websites. These sites allow you to create accounts and bookmark sites for your use and to share with members of the social bookmarking community.

This is a no price way to drive traffic to your site(s). If used effectively and not by spamming. Sites like Hub pages and Squidoo are spammed alot and the owners are taking suitable steps to cut down on the level of spam content.

Also for the same reason I do not spam social bookmarking sites. Several of them have suffered due to spam as well. Please do not take the list I am about to share here to spam with.

SEO Link Strategies

Your site's inbound links will have a large impact on your pages rankings. SEO companies are constantly on the lookout for new strategies to build their clients link profiles. Sometimes, the building of links isn't the problem. What people often forget is that links need to be periodically checked on to maintain their function.

A good linking strategy will involve a mixture of maintenance and link building. While your SEO consultant might be a great help with forging good links, it's important for every site owner to know how to look after their own link profile. If you're interested in links and search engine optimization, talk to us at SEO Consult.

Here are four ways to help build and maintain your link profile:

1. Pursue your existing links for new ones. If someone has already linked to you, you have a relationship with them. Use it to see if you can get some more links, either from their site or help you get links from others. One way to ease into this is if someone has linked to your main page, then ask for a link to a specific page that will suit their site's users better. This benefits them as well as you.

It's important not to be too pushy when you're talking to people who have already linked to you. Like any relationship, link relationships can get strained when someone asks too much.

2. Modify your anchor text where possible. Most site owners will either place your link within their own choice of anchor text or anchor it using your site address. A simple request can change the situation so that the link anchors use your keywords, boosting your pages relevancy to your main keywords.

Once more, use your discretion and diplomacy to handle this circumstance. If you demand up front that they place your link within text of your choosing it's possible your request will be refused. A polite request once the relationship is established will have a better effect. It's also a good idea to present it as something that will improve their site, for example pointing out that 'click for [keyword] information' will give their readers a better idea of where they're going.

3. Check on old links. Other people's sites undergo changes, too, and you need to keep up with them. Keep in contact with your existing links to ensure that changes won't affect your link profile, and try to fix errors whenever you find them.

4. Optimize existing links. Inbound links are only good if they're to the right pages. If one of your pages is taken off the index, its links will no longer be of that much value to your SEO campaign. One fix for this is to redirect links to a new, indexed page. Another option is to contact the people providing those links and let them know that there is a better page for them to link to. Of course, the best option of all is to ensure that your pages remain on the index.

1st Rule For Website Design

I used up several hours last week looking at websites from the third and fourth pages of some Google searches. I wanted to look at the design of some different websites in hope of getting some new ideas for my own web designing; I was really surprised at what I found.

I could tell some of this webmaster had devoted a great amount of time designing their website. I found many sites with banner ads, flashing ads, colors and more colors, bold headlines and product links everywhere. What I did not find was, content. Now I'm no design genius but I do know the basics for designing a website and that is not the way to go. I decided to write an article about what I consider is the most important first rule for website design.

The look of your website should be your first thought when designing your website. The moment a visitor arrives on your site they will immediate form an opinion of your site. As with meeting people for the first time, you want to make a good first impression. Your website should be clean, simple and show a high degree of professionalism.

Start with a simple design template. Download one of the many free pre-designed website templates and don't worry about its use by other webmasters. The chances are slim to none that your visitor has seen the template before. Keep your design clean and simple. No bells or whistles, that is, no flashing graphics or pop-ups and such. Limit your use of bold or cap fonts, save those for the most important part of your content.

Red should be a "no-no". Red is most related to sales pages and most savvy web suffers will leave your site immediately. Stick with only one or two colors throughout your site. I personally, do not place advertising on my landing page. I may include a free report, ezine subscription or free product with visitor signup but no product promotion. I save those for my inside pages. Build your visitor's confidence in your site and the information you are providing before you sell.

Make your site user friendly. A confusing and difficult navigation design can mean death to your site. The key here is to keep it simple.

Image Optimization for Google

There are ways to optimize your image to appear in the first results for a given search. Optimizing these images is not as difficult as many think, the factors that power the positioning of images.

Filename: You have to place a name according to how you find your image. A name containing the keywords For example, if you have a picture of a 1970 Pontiac GTO, Pudes not upload the photo with the name you put the camera default img1968.jpg have to raise it with the name Pontiac GTO-1970.jpg

The ALT attribute: Make sure you provide a sufficient description of the photo with the ALT attribute. This attribute was intended for display in text browsers that do not bear the images (many years ago). Try not to use too much text. Focus on a text containing keywords that accurately describe the picture.
Title and text: The title gives you a better idea of what Google image. Al treated like the text surrounding the image.

Anchor Text (Text Link): When you link an image using the suitable link text. It's like the anchor text you use for enlarge pages.

Google Image Labeler: Use Google Image Labeler http://images.google.com/imagelabeler/ this will help your images in scrambled the top of the search engines allowing others to categorize your pictures. It's a pretty fun tool. Simply enable the Google Image Labeler from Google Webmaster console.

Social Sites in SEO

Above the last 5 to 10 years now social sites have become very popular. They seem to be popping up on the internet more and more. With millions of people getting online and searching for something to do while their on there.

Many of us who have ever been on these sites have noticed that some seem better than others. The sites that seem to be doing really well, with lots of members are Face book and Twitter. These two site let you just write a very small message letting people tell others what they're doing at the time. It's easy to leave messages about almost anything. You can even leave things like what you have written on other sites so that people can go and take a look at them. It's not a bad way to make friends and have them want to follow in what you're doing.

My yearbook, Yuwie and a new social site called, People string is others site that you can make friends on. My yearbook is more like a dating site than anything else. But, Yuwie and People string are sites that pay you to use the site. These two sites let you do all kinds of things. Keep a blog, play games, send messages to friends. But, there is a drawback to them though. For you to make any kind of money you need to bring in referrals. That has been my problem and because I don't know that many people to bring into those sites. I haven't been making all that much money.

There are ways to bring in people. You can set up ads on traffic sites. You can try to do anything, but it will be a slow process. Social sites do have their draw backs. You may make friends but most of the time you really don't keep in touch with them. If youre looking for more than friends then, they can be very good for that. Each one of these sites has some of the same things on them. Not too much is different between them. I think that using these sites are all up the person that joins them.

One major reason that social sites were made was to bring a whole bunch of people together from all over the world. Not having to worry about what someone thinks of you is another one. I think that making new friends and meeting people from all over the world is important to use and these sites can give us a great way of doing that. Opens up your mind and heart to someone that is from a different country and learning something about them and where they live. That is a good thing.

If you're interested in wanting to know more about these sites you can look them up. Finding out more for you is always best.
